Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Basic tier actually free?

Yes — we want to make basic fee transparency accessible to all plan sponsors, regardless of plan size. We earn revenue from PRO and Enterprise plans. Basic users also help us build our proprietary benchmarking database over time.

What do I need to run a Basic report?

You need three numbers from your annual 408(b)(2) fee disclosure: (1) total plan assets, (2) number of participant balances, and (3) total annual fees paid to your recordkeeper. Your plan administrator or advisor can provide these.

What is a 408(b)(2) disclosure?

Under ERISA, your plan's service providers (recordkeeper, advisor, TPA) are required to annually disclose their fees to plan sponsors. This document — the 408(b)(2) disclosure — is your primary source for fee information. See our Education Hub for a detailed guide.

How are benchmarks calculated?

Our MVP benchmarks are derived from Vanguard's published pricing model and supplemented with industry data from Form 5500 filings and published RFP data. We classify your plan into one of five size tiers (Micro, Small, Mid, Large, Mega) and compare your fees to the low, median, and high range for your tier.

How does PRO billing work?

PRO is an annual recurring subscription billed at $499/year. Your subscription renews automatically on the anniversary of your purchase date each year — not at the end of your plan year. You can cancel at any time through your account dashboard; your PRO access continues until the end of your current billing period. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.

Is this a substitute for an attorney or ERISA advisor?

No. FEEDUCIARY is a data tool, not legal advice. We help you understand whether your fees are in line with the market — but we strongly recommend working with an ERISA attorney or independent fiduciary advisor for specific compliance decisions. See our full ERISA disclaimer.

Can I use this report as my fiduciary documentation?

The report provides data-driven benchmark evidence that can form part of your fiduciary documentation, but it should be combined with a documented review process, meeting minutes, and if warranted, an independent fee study. The PRO PDF report is formatted for inclusion in your fiduciary file.
